Researchers at Harvard formulated a simple, inexpensive, and efficient way to test the skills of a would-be entrepreneur in an emerging market like Nairobi or Lima. The computer-based psychometric test, which asks about 150 questions, asesses traits like honesty, ethics, intelligence, and motivation. See three question examples below:
- Do you like taking things apart to see how they work?
- Do you enjoy going to parties?
- Given five seconds, how long a sequence of numbers can you memorize?
If the startup champ-to-be’s questions add up, it’s then safe to say that individual has a better chance than most of running a successful small business in a developing economy.
